Interesting Facts You Never Knew About Football
Football is, without a doubt, one of the world’s most beloved sports. It is exciting, and fans are
fiercely loyal to their favourite teams. The game has been around for thousands of years already,
with every tournament or World Cup becoming even more intense than the one before.

However, it is one of the world’s biggest sports and we don’t actually know much about where it comes from or
how long it’s been such a favourite for.

Below, you will find some interesting facts that you probably didn’t know about the world’s most
beautiful game, including where and when it is rumoured to have originated.

The Football Industry Is Massive

While football, or soccer as it is also known, is not that big of a deal in America, it is everywhere else
in the world. In fact, it is the biggest sport in the world today, and the Fédération Internationale deFootball Association (FIFA) World Cup is the most watched sporting event in the entire world.

Of course, with this comes plenty of endorsements and opportunities to make a fair bit of money.
According to Forbes, the football industry generates more money than any other sport.

Furthermore, the publication also added that football clubs such as Manchester United, FC
Barcelona and Real Madrid are amongst the most valuable sports franchises in the world.

No One Really Knows Where Football Originated
While there is no way of truly knowing where the world’s favourite sport comes from, many believe
that it began in China over 3,000 years ago. Back then, the balls were made by sewing clothing
together and filling it with rubble. As time progressed and the game spread around the world,
Europeans began producing the balls from inflated pig bladders.

Officially, modern day football was founded by the British in 1863. They established and formulated
the rules. In 1904, FIFA was formed in order to govern the sport at an international level. The first
FIFA World Cup was held after the Olympics would not recognise football as a tournament sport, so
FIFA held the first World Cup in 1930. Uruguay won the cup.

There Have Only Ever Been Seven World Cup Winners

To date, only seven countries have actually won the FIFA World Cup, unlike the 100’s of people who
win daily when playing at a mobile casino Canada has to offer. The winners include Spain, Italy, Argentina, Germany, Uruguay, England and Brazil. The latter holds the record for having made it to
the finals and won the most times. Brazil has emerged FIFA World Cup champions five times; first in
1958, then in 1962, 1970, 1994 and 2002. The tournament has been held every four years since it
began. However, the only time it was not held was during World War II, which saw the tournament
take a 12-year break.

As mentioned above, football dates back thousands of years. While the game has certainly evolved a
great deal, it has not become any less popular. In fact, its popularity continues to grow, and both the managers and professional players are able to enjoy plenty of perks, making them incredibly
wealthy.
